To assess, design, implement and evaluate therapeutic recreation services for patients on K1W, a transitional care unit for medically complex community patients. Responsibilities include the development and planning of both group and individual on-unit recreation therapy programs. Participation in Recreation Therapy professional initiatives.
Qualifications/Skills
- Degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies with therapeutic recreation specialization required
- Membership with Recreation Therapy Qualified Association required
- Experience working on transitional care unit preferred
- Current Registration status with TRO (R/TRO dip) preferred
- CPR Certification at the basic Rescuer level essential
- Demonstrated ability to implement Recreation Therapy Programs in a care facility
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both within the organization and the community
- Demonstrated awareness of, or involvement in, current issues in the Recreation therapy profession at both provincial and national levels
- Ability to work with the multidisciplinary team and multiple health professions on clinical and program development issues
- Demonstrated self-directed behavior and leadership skills needed to work independently
