Floor Manager & Events Coordinator
Sofia | Toronto, ON | Full-Time
Create the Experience. Own the Floor. Bring Events to Life.
Offering a fresh perspective and refined approach to Italian cuisine, Sofia is committed to sourcing quality ingredients while paying homage to the authentic flavours and traditions of Italy.
Set against a dramatic and exquisitely designed backdrop, Sofia pairs premium service with a curated, ever-evolving collection of internationally acclaimed art. Sofia is designed to provoke—to stimulate appetites, conversations, and memories that last long after the last course.
We are looking for a Floor Manager & Events Coordinator who is passionate about hospitality, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands that the details are what turn a great meal into an unforgettable experience.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can confidently lead the floor while also bringing events, private functions, and special occasions to life.
The Opportunity
As Floor Manager & Events Coordinator, you'll be at the centre of the Sofia experience.
You'll lead the restaurant floor, support and develop our team, build strong relationships with guests, and ensure every service operates at the highest level. Alongside your floor management responsibilities, you'll coordinate special events and functions—from initial guest inquiries and planning through to execution and follow-up.
You'll be someone who can move seamlessly between hospitality and events: managing a busy dinner service one moment and coordinating the details of a private event, corporate function, or celebration the next.
What You'll Do:
Lead the Floor
- Lead service and ensure an exceptional guest experience from arrival through departure.
- Be a visible and engaged leader on the floor during service.
- Coach, mentor, and develop front-of-house team members.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Maintain high standards of service, presentation, hospitality, and professionalism.
- Anticipate guest needs and proactively resolve concerns.
- Lead by example during high-volume and high-profile services.
- Ensure tables, stations, and service areas are consistently presented to Sofia standards.
- Maintain strong communication between the front and back of house.
- Ensure health, safety, sanitation, and operational standards are consistently maintained.
Coordinate Events & Special Functions
- Act as a key point of contact for guests planning private events, corporate functions, celebrations, and special occasions.
- Coordinate event details from initial inquiry through execution and follow-up.
- Work with guests to understand their vision, requirements, menus, timing, guest counts,
and special requests.
- Collaborate with culinary, service, management, marketing, and other internal teams to ensure seamless event execution.
- Coordinate event timelines, floor plans, seating arrangements, menus, guest requirements, and special details.
- Conduct event walkthroughs and pre-event meetings as required.
- Ensure all event details are communicated clearly to the team prior to execution.
- Be present and hands-on during events to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Build lasting relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and repeat guests.
- Identify opportunities to enhance events, drive repeat business, and increase revenue.
Elevate the Guest Experience
- Create genuine connections with guests and ensure they feel recognized and valued.
- Respond to guest feedback, inquiries, and concerns with professionalism and urgency.
- Maintain strong relationships with VIP guests, corporate clients, event partners, and regular clientele.
- Look for opportunities to surprise and delight guests.
- Bring Sofia's personality, energy, and standards to every interaction.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor inventory, supplies, and operating equipment.
- Ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained and equipment is properly cared for.
- Identify maintenance issues and ensure they are addressed promptly.
- Participate in management meetings and team communications.
- Conduct ongoing on-the-job training and coaching.
- Support administrative processes including reporting, payroll, and other operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve service, operations, and the overall guest experience.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a hospitality leader who is equal parts operator, relationship-builder, and experience-maker.
You bring:
- 3+ years of experience in a restaurant management or floor management role.
- Experience coordinating private events, corporate functions, or special events is strongly preferred.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- The ability to confidently lead a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with guest relations, event coordination, and service recovery.
- Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
- The ability to remain calm, composed, and solutions-focused under pressure.
- A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to be hands-on and lead from the floor.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, service standards, health and safety, and hospitality best practices.
- Strong business acumen and an understanding of labour, inventory, and operational controls.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during special events.
