Overview

We’re looking for Behaviour Interventionists to join our growing team! This role is a great fit for students or recent graduates in Psychology, Education, Behavioural Science, Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Speech Sciences, Occupational Therapy, or anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience working with autistic and neurodivergent children and youth.

No two sessions look exactly the same. One day you might be working on communication and play skills at home, and another day you might be helping a learner practice independence, social skills, or community safety out in the community.

Responsibilities

- Build communication, social, play, and independence skills
- Teach through play, games, movement, crafts, and everyday activities
- Support learners in their homes, daycares, schools, or community
- Help learners become more confident and independent
- Implement individualized programs created by the Behaviour Consultant
- Collect simple data to help us understand each learner’s progress
- Attend team meetings and receive ongoing coaching and feedback
- Collaborate with families and other members of the learner’s team
- Most importantly,

build a positive and trusting relationship with the learner!

Skills

- Fun, playful, and comfortable being a little silly with kids
- Patient and able to stay calm when things don’t go according to plan
- Reliable and consistent
- Curious and willing to learn
- Comfortable receiving feedback and asking questions
- Creative when it comes to keeping kids engaged
- Respectful of neurodiversity and individual differences
- Interested in learning more about behaviour, development, and evidence-based intervention

Previous experience with autistic children is an asset, but training and support can be provided. Your willingness to learn and ability to connect with kids matter just as much.
