Position Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, and working collaboratively within the Human Resources team, this role is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who has built a strong foundation in human resources and is looking to expand their experience across a broad range of HR functions.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key resource for employees and leaders while supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee orientation, training and development, employee relations, HR administration, and a variety of HR initiatives. This role contributes to the development, enhancement, and implementation of HR programs, processes, and practices while supporting the organization's people strategies across the full employee lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, sound knowledge of human resources practices, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
This is a full-time, on-site position based at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle recruitment activities for assigned roles, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination and participation as needed, reference checks, and support for hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
- Coordinate onboarding activities, facilitate employee orientation, and support a positive and consistent new hire experience
- Support training and development initiatives by coordinating learning opportunities, tracking employee participation, and maintaining training records.
- Support performance management processes, including documentation and tracking requirements
- Contribute to a variety of HR initiatives and projects, including the development, enhancement, and implementation of programs, processes, and employee-focused initiatives that support organizational priorities and improve the employee experience
- Support workplace health and safety programs and initiatives by assisting with communications, documentation, reporting, and employee awareness activities that promote a safe and healthy workplace
- Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, reports, and confidential documentation
- Provide guidance and support to employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, and collective agreement interpretation
- Prepare HR reports and assist with tracking key metrics
- Ensure HR practices comply with employment legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies
Education and Qualifications
- 2–4 years of progressive experience in human resources, ideally with exposure to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administration
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Working knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, and processes
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams),
with the ability to independently prepare qualified documents, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and HR communications
- Experience working with HRIS platforms, with the ability to maintain accurate employee data, generate reports, and support system improvements and process efficiencies
- Experience working in a unionized environment and familiarity with collective agreements is an asset
- Working toward or possessing a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an asset
