Interconnections Manager

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Edmonds A02

Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00

What you'll do

- Manages a number of Transmission Load Interconnection projects of significant size, diversity, complexity, risk and

assumes responsibility for their successful completion.

- Ensure the relevant terms of Tariffs and business practices are applied in implementing Transmission Load

Interconnection projects.

- Develops Interconnection project plans, including scope, budget, schedule and project team responsibilities in order to

accomplish project objectives.

- Lead and coordinate interaction and discussion with various BCH groups, manage conflicting interests and requirements

for BCH and Customers.

- Establishes standards and process for the implementation of the interconnection project and monitors progress to ensure

the work is carried out in the most cost effective manner using project management practices.

- Ensures that internal and external resources with appropriate skill sets are provided, assigns work and provides

instructions,



advice and technical leadership and guidance to project staff; reviews work in progress and assesses
completed work for accuracy, required results and quality assurance.

- Manages implementation of the project within agreed upon scope, timeline and budget.

- Develops and oversees the implementation of risk mitigation and management plans, and customer compensation

measures within the terms of Tariffs.

- Investigates and analyses unusual problems, evaluates risks and applies innovative solutions.

- Develops and executes strategies to maximize synergies across multiple projects which are related or have similar issues.

- Seeks new and unique technology, processes and products that will improve the delivery of current and future

interconnection projects.

- Leads strategic initiatives to facilitate the delivery of work or improve processes and procedures related to the

interconnection projects.

- Develops and/or accepts a wide variety of technical and process documents and maintains technical standards and

process charts for area of expertise.

- Develops and presents business cases, briefing notes, prepares project reports and, at completion, finalizes all financial

transactions and completes final reports.

- Represents BCH in discussion with Customers in regards to new transmission customer interconnection or increases in

existing transmission customer loads.

- Consults and collaborates with other internal BC Hydro departments such as Customer Service, Project Delivery,

Regulatory, Legal, Finance, Planning, and Engineering to ensure the ongoing efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of
interconnection service to customers.

What you bring





- Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline such as engineering or business plus project management certification or

equivalent. A candidate with a combination of experience and lesser education may be considered.

- Nine to twelve years experiences in project management and utility experience.

- Good understanding of BCH Transmission Voltage Customers and their business needs.

- Good knowledge of other technical fields sufficient to provide coordination and leadership.

- Good understanding of BCH project delivery processes and practices.

- Good understanding of BCH Tariffs related to Transmission Load Interconnections.

- Superior oral and written skills with excellent leadership capabilities.

- Well-developed facilitation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.

- Superb presentation and writing skills to explain complex matters in concise, logical, and easy to understand manner.

- Strong knowledge of system planning, operation, reliability related issues and ability to explain them to non-technical

audience.

- Thorough knowledge of BC Hydro Interconnections processes, Tariffs, policies and requirements for large load customers.
