About WEthrift: WEthrift is a faith based community thrift store dedicated to providing great finds for the greater valuable – by supporting local charitable initiatives that strengthen children, families, and our community. Position Summary: The Assistant to the Store Manager will support the day-to-day operations of a busy thrift store while gaining valuable experience in retail, customer service, merchandising, inventory management, and nonprofit/community-based operations. This position is ideal for a mature, dependable, and motivated individual seeking hands-on work experience in a customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Store Manager with daily store operations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with purchases.
- Receive, sort, price, and display donated merchandise.
- Maintain attractive, organized, and well-stocked sales floor displays.
- Operate the cash register and process sales transactions accurately.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Help monitor inventory levels and organize stockroom areas.
- Ensure the store remains clean, safe, and welcoming for customers, donors, and volunteers.
- Assist with promotional events, special sales, and community outreach activities.
- Have up to date computer skills, able to use canva or similar, able to produce social media content and in store advertising.
- Support volunteers and provide assistance as directed by the Store Manager.




- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient store operations.

Qualifications

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities.
- Up to date computer and cash-handling skills are an asset.
- Ability to lift and move boxes and merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
- Previous retail, customer service, volunteer, or nonprofit experience is considered an asset
- Post-secondary education or current enrollment in a post-secondary program is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

- 20 hours per week.
- May require occasional evening shifts and regular Saturday work.
