Early Childhood Educator (Level 1, 2 or 3 - experience preferred)

By implementing the Alberta curriculum framework, FLIGHT, Alphabet Daycare provides children with an inspiring and stimulating environment to investigate and to explore. Children grow, learn and develop through fun experiences.

We are now inviting passionate and professional educators to fill one position. Educators are required to be physically and mentally fit enough to work with children and be able to work with different age groups including infants, toddlers, pre-school and kinder. Knowledge of the Alberta curriculum framework Flight is preferred. Job duties include planning activities based on children's interests and development, assisting children in their daily routines such as diapering and eating, making observation records, and cleaning, etc. Teamwork, good communication skills and a positive attitude are important.

Shift:

Any shifts between 6:45am and 6:00pm

Responsibilities:

- Plan and carry out activities based on children’s interests and needs
- Guide children to participate in groups and in fun activities
- Help children grow and learn through the implementation of the Alberta curriculum FLIGHT
- Conduct observations and make reports of observation to identify interests and needs of children
- Record children’s play and development and be ready to report to parents and supervisors




- Maintain effective communications with parents
- Maintain a safe, warm and caring atmosphere within the room
- Monitor the daily routines in rooms
- Work with children both individually and in groups
- Work with different age groups including infants, toddlers, pre-school and kinder
- Oversee snack times and lunch, provide children with assistance when necessary
- Assist children with toilet training and diapering
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the rooms

Qualifications:

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

- A minimum of Childcare certificate Level 1, 2 or 3
- Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- First-aid training
- Knowledge of the FLIGHT curriculum preferred
- Abilities to plan activities based on children’s interests and needs
- Physically and mentally fit enough to work with children
- Ability to work within a multi-cultural group and with children of diversified abilities
- Experience with early childcare preferred
- Great understanding of children with a diversity of needs
- Knowledge of developmental stages of different age groups
- Ability to carry out positive guidance strategies
- willing to handle challenging behaviours
- Strong communication skills and able to develop strong relationships with families
- Abilities to work alongside other educators and employees as a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.14-$27.12 per hour

Licence/Certification:

- criminal check with vulnerable sector? (required)
- Alberta Educator Certification level 1, 2 or 3 (required)
