We are seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Drill Operator to join our team! The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, precise, and successful execution of utility construction projects (including telecom & power infrastructure) throughout the Edmonton region.

Responsibilities:

- Safely and confidently operate mid-to-large size horizontal directional drills
- Safely transport, load, secure, and unload heavy equipment to and from jobsites
- Install underground infrastructure based on engineering prints, strictly adhering to alignments and depth profiles
- Review all Alberta One-Call and private utility locate documentation to identify and verify conflicting utilities via hydrovac validation
- Conduct pre-job hazard assessments (FLHAs) and review the drill path, mud mixing ratios, and safety measures with crew members prior to drilling
- Maintain constant, clear communication with the Locator via radio to track and confirm the depth, pitch, and position of the drill head
- Demonstrate tight time management
- Conduct post-job quality checks
- Follows specifications for the job and company policies




- Problem-solve potential deviations or unexpected ground conditions on-site in coordination with project managers and clients
- Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work

​Qualifications:

- 3+ years of verifiable experience operating a horizontal directional drill
- Deep understanding of underground utility layouts and soil conditions
- Ability to read, interpret, and accurately execute civil engineering design prints
- Comprehend and communicate client and company project specifications
- Adhere to all safety standards
- Strong leadership skills to motivate a crew, and maintain a highly safe work workplace
