UMMI Early Learning is a Muslim childcare centre providing a warm, nurturing workplace where Islamic values are naturally incorporated into children’s daily learning and routines.

We are looking for a caring, patient, and dependable Childcare Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support to a young child who benefits from additional assistance within our childcare program.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with children and can provide calm, consistent support while encouraging participation, communication, independence, and positive engagement throughout the day.

Responsibilities

- Provide dedicated 1:1 support within the childcare environment
- Support the child during play, learning activities, outdoor time, meals, toileting and daily transitions
- Encourage communication, social interaction and participation with peers
- Use simple routines, visual supports and positive guidance strategies
- Support emotional and sensory regulation when needed
- Help the child participate in group activities while respecting their individual needs
- Assist with toileting and developing greater independence with self-care routines
- Work collaboratively with the UMMI Early Learning team
- Follow strategies and recommendations provided by the child’s support team
- Observe and communicate relevant progress or concerns to the supervisor

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is

- Patient, warm and genuinely enjoys working with young children
- Calm and confident when supporting a child who may require additional help with regulation or transitions
- Reliable and able to commit consistently Monday through Friday
- Comfortable providing hands-on support with toileting and personal care when required
- Able to follow individualized support strategies and work as part of a team
- Willing to learn and receive guidance

Qualifications

Experience supporting children with additional needs is an asset, particularly experience with autism, communication differences, sensory needs or behavioural support.

ECE, ECEA, Responsible Adult, Educational Assistant, Behaviour Interventionist or related childcare experience is an asset; however, we are also open to the right candidate who has relevant experience and a strong willingness to learn.

Successful candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and complete all required childcare screening and documentation, including a criminal record check.

Schedule

Monday to FridayApproximately 4 hours per day

This is a consistent part-time position providing dedicated support to one child within our childcare program.

Compensation

$19.00 per hour
