Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Typically requires six (6) years of related experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and a Master’s degree in economics, engineering, mathematics, planning or related discipline with strong emphasis on big data analytics, quantitative research, forecasting and other transportation analytics methods and application.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Advanced knowledge of analytical methods to evaluate the costs and benefits of transportation policies, strategy and projects including expertise in alternative analysis, multiple account evaluation and benefit-cost analysis

Advanced knowledge of forecasting theory and transportation model development and application including but not limited to regression and time-series econometric models

Advanced knowledge of the transportation industry as it pertains to best practices in transportation research, analytics, modeling, forecasting, and other quantitative analysis

Advanced knowledge of computerized packages such as R, Python, SQL, STATA, SPSS, Excel and Tableau to provide analytical insights and visualization

Solid leadership skills with the ability to communicate and provide an advanced level of technical guidance and expertise to other transportation planning professionals and to lead projects.

Strong oral and written communication skills to develop and deliver reports and presentations and to facilitate meetings.

Excellent critical thinking, analytical,



problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to identify and assess impact of transportation planning and project-related risks and opportunities in an integrated, multi-disciplinary, highly sensitive environment.

Strong Interpersonal skills to build trust by consulting with internal and external contacts and applying a team approach and negotiation skills to make refinements to contracts and to conflict resolution at a basic level of risk and complexity.

Solid decision-making skills to make recommendations/resolve transportation planning and project-related issues, and conflict resolution skills to mitigate and minimize project risks and issues.

Other Information

This posting is for a position in the System Analytics team in the Transportation Planning & Policy Division at TransLink. The System Analytics team monitors transportation outcomes and system performance, tracks trends and drivers impacting the transportation network, undertakes big data and other quantitative analysis to support business needs, and develops analytical systems and processes to provide insights efficiently and effectively.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, System Analytics, this position supports and advances Monitoring Programs, including the EDI Data Analytics Program and the Regional Transportation Monitoring Program for vehicle and active transportation modes, by developing metrics, indices, and analytical tools; and working with Planning & Policy project teams and regional partners to support data-informed projects and decisions.

The ideal candidate has advanced technical and analytical skills, strong project management skills and enjoys working on EDI-related and broader transportation projects, including transportation monitoring for all modes, such as active transportation and vehicle modes.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

This is a full time temporary position with an estimated end date of September 30, 2027.

Work Designation

Hybrid

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position ranges from $100,080 - $150,120 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.

The Total Compensation Package, which includes Extended Health, Dental, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan upon eligibility as well as other employment offerings will be discussed in detail as your application progresses.
