Plate Mover / General Labourer - Border Steel Ltd.

Position Summary

The Plate Mover / General Labourer is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, staging, and organization of steel plate materials throughout the facility. Working closely with Blanchard Grinder Operators, this position ensures production materials are readily available, customer orders are prepared accurately, and workflow remains uninterrupted. The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, dependable, and capable of contributing to a productive and organized manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Safe handling of large steel plates using overhead cranes/magnets
- Move, stack, sort, and organize steel plates and related materials.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Prepare materials for processing, cutting, grinding and customer orders.
- Conduct basic inspections of materials and report any damage or concerns.
- Assist with inventory counts and material tracking as required.
- Support warehouse teams as needed.
- Perform general labour duties throughout the facility.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work workplace.




- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, steel service center, or industrial environment is an asset.
- Experience working with large steel or heavy industrial parts
- Experience working around overhead cranes, forklifts, or industrial equipment is preferred.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs regularly, move, and handle heavy materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and perform physical labour for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Reliable attendance, self-starter with the ability to work independently and stay productive
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe operating practices

Schedule and Working Conditions:

- Industrial shop environment (steel manufacturing, flame cutting, Blanchard grinding, CNC milling, fabricating)
- 8 – 10 hour shifts
- Monday to Friday (days and afternoons with shift premium)
- Weekends as needed

· PPE required (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
