The Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for analyzing operational processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and leading the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S initiatives throughout the organization.

This role is highly hands-on and requires a strong presence on the production floor. The incumbent works closely with the Director and employees to observe workflows, eliminate waste, improve efficiency, standardize work practices, and ensure that process improvements are successfully implemented and sustained.

The Process Improvement Specialist is also responsible for developing and delivering employee training on Lean methodologies, 5S standards, standardized work, and continuous improvement tools while fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Apply Manufacturers SOP, observe and analyze manufacturing and operational processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform workflow analyses, process mapping, time studies, and capacity assessments.
- Evaluate current production methods and recommend practical solutions to improve productivity, quality, safety, and workflow.
- Analyze operational data and performance metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analyses using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Develop standardized work procedures to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Monitor process performance and ensure implemented improvements achieve expected results.
- Spend significant time on the production floor supporting operations.
- Work directly with production teams to implement new processes and improved work methods.
- Coach employees during the implementation of process improvements.
- Observe employee work practices and provide real-time coaching to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Verify that improvements are fully integrated into daily operations and sustained over time.




- Develop training materials related to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, standardized work, and process improvement.
- Deliver classroom and hands-on training sessions for employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Train new employees on workplace organization standards and operational best practices.
- Evaluate employee understanding and application of Lean principles.
- Provide ongoing coaching to reinforce continuous improvement initiatives and ensure long-term sustainability.
- Create work instructions, visual standards, process documentation, and training materials.
- Ensure all process improvements comply with Health & Safety requirements.
- Incorporate ergonomic and safety considerations into workplace design and process improvements.
- Support the implementation of safe work practices throughout all improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certifications are considered robust assets.

Experience

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in process improvement within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and 5S programs on the production floor.
- Experience training employees and facilitating operational change.
- Experience conducting process analyses and implementing standardized work.
