The Seasonal Immunization Registered Nurse plays an integral role in supporting Primary Care Alberta's provincial seasonal immunization campaign, typically running from fall through spring. In this role, you will provide influenza, COVID 19, pneumococcal, and other seasonally indicated vaccines to clients across the lifespan. This position is open to Registered Nurses (RN) and Graduate Nurses (GN) who have completed a degree program. Seasonal immunizers deliver care in a variety of settings, including Community Health Centres, community-based outreach clinics, mobile clinics, and client homes. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and community partners to promote equitable access to immunizations and support population health and disease prevention priorities within Edmonton Public Health. In addition to seasonal clinics, staff may support rapid response activities, including outbreak and emergent immunization responses as required. This role is well suited to adaptable, client-centered practitioners who value teamwork, flexibility, and making a meaningful impact during peak immunization and response periods. This position will support the seasonal immunization program in Leduc, Beaumont, Thorsby, and Devon.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.



You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years,



completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

This position will require confidence in driving on rural roads and highways. Applicants must be registered with the College of Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or be in the process of registration. Current nursing students who expect to graduate and be eligible for CRNA registration prior to the start of employment are encouraged to apply. Nurses may work in a variety of settings with variable physical requirements, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods; lifting up to 25lbs; performing repetitive hand movements; and moving into awkward positions. The role requires adaptability to changes in clinic environments, client volumes, and work locations. Strong organizational skills, the ability to work effectively in fast-paced clinic settings, and comfort using electronic health records and mobile clinical technology (e.g. Connect Care) are required. Flexibility in availability, including evenings and weekends during peak immunization periods is expected.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Community or public health nursing experience is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with previous immunization experience and those who have completed a preceptor-led clinical placement or have prior work experience in Public Health. Experience using Connect Care and other electronic documentation systems is also preferred.
