About Us

The Language and Working Memory (LWM) Lab is part of the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Western, and aims to understand children’s learning, and ways we can support it.

Responsibilities

The Technical/Research Support 1 will apply their expertise and knowledge to research activities related to reading interventions for school-age children. The role will work with the investigators to support a study on the effectiveness of a community-based literacy program. The research support person will carry out intervention sessions with school-age children according to the study protocol and complete data collection as directed by the investigators and lead members of the research team..

Qualifications

Education:

- Postsecondary course work on child and/or language development
- Additional training in written language instruction would be an asset

Experience:

- At least 1 year of experience working with children and collaborating in a team environment would be an asset

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students, and the public
- Ability to work independently and effectively through proactive planning and organized approaches to work
- Excellent English spoken and written language skills with the ability to document technical information
- Willingness to work evenings




- Vulnerable sector screening check withing past 6 months
