Position Overview: THIS IS A FULL-TIME YEAR ROUND POSITION. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Construction Crew Lead to join our team. As the Construction Crew Lead, you will play a vital role in overseeing and guiding our construction projects, ensuring their successful completion. You will lead a crew, provide on-the-job training, and ensure adherence to occupational health and safety guidelines. With a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, you will contribute to creating beautiful outdoor spaces that make a lasting impact.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to a construction crew, coaching and training team members on project tasks.
- Execute tasks delegated by the Department Foreperson to ensure efficient project execution.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all job sites, ensuring they are tidy once work is completed.
- Safely operate company vehicles and ensure loads are secured for transport.
- Load and unload vehicles for assigned jobs.
- Collaborate with the Foreman to develop a daily workload plan, considering project requirements and timelines.
- Utilize various manual and power tools and equipment for construction tasks, ensuring their proper maintenance and safe operation.
- Oversee and coordinate a crew of up to 2 General Labourers, promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Foster high morale and a positive team dynamic, building a strong sense of camaraderie among crew members.
- Complete all required checklists and maintain the Vehicle Inspection book to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Fuel and clean company vehicles as necessary, keeping them in good condition.
- Ensure proper use of team personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment.
- Plan and submit routes for productive project execution, considering factors such as distance, traffic, and project priorities.
- Work within Occupational Health & Safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and the team.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Certificate in Carpentry, Automotive, Horticulture, or equivalent work experience, demonstrating your expertise in construction-related fields.
- Possession of a valid G Class driver's license (AR license is an asset),
showcasing your ability to operate company vehicles safely.
- Experience with Carpentry in construction-related fields such as: Fencing, decks, lattice and privacy features.
- Experience with trucks and trailers, enabling you to efficiently transport equipment and materials to job sites.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy in your work.
- Excellent communication skills in various environments, enabling effective collaboration with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills to navigate challenging or complex situations, finding efficient solutions while maintaining productivity.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team agile, adapting to different project requirements and contributing to a positive work environment.
- Leadership skills are an asset, allowing you to inspire and motivate your crew to achieve project goals.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs (or 75 lbs in a two-person lift), enabling you to handle materials and equipment required for construction tasks.
- Extended periods of standing
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
