Boreal Housing Foundation is seeking a dedicated and organized Housing Coordinator to join our team. This position plays an key role in helping individuals, families, and seniors access appropriate affordable housing within the Municipality of Mackenzie County.

The Housing Coordinator works closely with tenants, residents, employees, community agencies, and the Housing Manager to support the effective administration of Boreal Housing Foundation's housing programs.

About the Position

Reporting directly to the Housing Manager, the Housing Coordinator is responsible for receiving and screening housing applications, maintaining tenant and applicant records, coordinating move-ins and move-outs, administering rental agreements, and assisting with income and rent management.

This position handles highly confidential information, and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with FOIP requirements is an essential part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

The Housing Coordinator will:

- Provide professional and responsive customer service to tenants, applicants, employees, and community partners.
- Receive, review, and maintain applications for Community Housing and Senior Housing.
- Collect and verify information to determine household eligibility and priority of need.
- Maintain accurate tenant files, housing records, occupancy reports, application reports, and monthly waitlists.
- Coordinate tenant move-ins and move-outs.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to rental agreements.
- Collect rent, issue accurate rental receipts,



and assist with daily rent reconciliation and bank deposits.
- Follow up with tenants regarding rental arrears.
- Coordinate vacant units with maintenance and cleaning staff.
- Submit maintenance requisitions for required unit repairs.
- Assist in coordinating quarterly unit inspections with maintenance personnel.
- Complete annual income verification to determine continued housing eligibility and/or adjusted rental subsidies.
- Work with local social service agencies and community support services to help connect individuals and families with appropriate affordable housing options.
- Ensure compliance with applicable housing legislation, regulations, and Boreal Housing Foundation policies and procedures.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality when working with tenant and applicant information.
- Participate in workplace health and safety initiatives, emergency response procedures, and drills.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.

These responsibilities reflect the duties outlined in the position description, including rent collection, vacancy coordination, waitlist management, tenant arrears, eligibility assessments, annual income verification, and working with community agencies.

Qualifications & Skills





The ideal candidate will have:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- An understanding of Alberta Housing operations, legislation, and guidelines.
- Standard First Aid Level C with AED.
- Experience working with seniors and/or individuals in a low-income housing environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Effective problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to adapt to the changing needs of tenants, employees, and community partners.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs, pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
