Job Purpose

Progressive Fabrication Inc. is growing and actively recruiting an Apprentice Welder to join our team. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful candidate will support the welding and fabrication team in the preparation, assembly, and welding of structural components. This position is ideal for an individual seeking long-term career growth in the welding trade, with opportunities for ongoing learning and hands-on experience with a wide variety of equipment and machinery.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist journeyman welders with fabrication and welding activities
- Cut, prepare, and fit structural steel and metal components for welding
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Understand basic weld types, welding materials, tools, and equipment
- Select and organize materials according to project requirements
- Operate grinders, cutting tools, and other fabrication equipment safely
- Measure and align components using calipers, rulers, squares, and clamps
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and hazards
- Identify potential safety concerns and report issues as required
- Support other departments and team members as needed
- Participate in on-the-job training and apprenticeship development
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Registered Apprentice Welder




- Previous shop, fabrication, or industrial experience is considered an asset
- Forklift certification is an asset
- Physically fit with the ability to perform manual labour tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Positive hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

Working Conditions

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with seasonal temperature fluctuations
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
