Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Customer Service Clerk/Cashier to join our retail team. This role is vital in providing exceptional service to our customers, managing transactions accurately, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate will possess robust communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have a passion for assisting customers in a fast-paced environment. Staff that have a second language are an asset but not required. Farsi, Hindi and Punjabi are an asset, and strong fluency in English is required.

Duties

- Greet customers warmly and assist with their inquiries in person and over the phone
- Understand how to sell BC Lotto products, training provided.
- Operate POS systems for checkout transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing (Smart Vendor is our till program, previous experience an asset)
- Manage product merchandising and ensure displays are organized and appealing
- Upsell items to enhance customer satisfaction and sales
- Provide information about products, services, and promotions to customers
- Maintain accurate cash register balances and handle returns or exchanges professionally
- Support inventory management by restocking shelves and organizing merchandise
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized store environment
- Utilize organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods

Requirements





- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and active listening
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
- Previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or customer service preferred
- Ability to operate POS systems effectively
- Ability to get BC Lotto compliant
- Previous Lotto experience an asset
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse customer needs
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
- Demonstrated ability to upsell products through technical sales or product demos
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques is a plus
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed
