About the Role:
The Senior Account Manager plays a key role in shaping and executing our sales strategy to surpass sales objectives and drive business growth. This role is in regular contact with current and prospective customers and conducts all sales activities from lead generation to project completion, and beyond, using technical selling skills and focused product knowledge to deliver superior solutions to customers. The Senior Account Manager is responsible for all aspects of account management, sales, and promotion to the residential, commercial, and industrial construction and building supply industry.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and execute account plans that increase sales, market share and profitability across the contractor and electrical distribution channels.
- Build trusted relationships with electrical contractors, distributors, estimators, project managers, purchasing teams and other industry partners.
- Identify project opportunities early and manage the sales pipeline from lead generation and quotation through negotiation, award and delivery.
- Conduct regular customer visits, project reviews, product presentations and training sessions throughout the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with contractors to understand project requirements, recommend appropriate lighting and controls solutions, and resolve technical or commercial challenges.
- Design assistance in developing control intent, fixture schedules, specifications, and drawings.
- Prepare and present pricing strategies, value-engineering alternatives and project proposals.
- Maintain accurate project, account, pricing and forecasting information in the company’s CRM and related systems.
- Coordinate with inside sales, quotations, project management, applications, customer service and logistics teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Assist with project follow-up, including approvals, submittals, release schedules, substitutions, and change orders as required.
- Support negotiations while protecting gross margin and ensuring alignment with manufacturer and agency objectives.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity and customer needs, sharing actionable insights with leadership and manufacturing partners.
- Represent the agency at industry events, trade shows, customer meetings and manufacturer functions.
- Assist with issue resolution and account receivables when senior account involvement is required.
- Create project level opportunities for the manufacturers we represent through regular sales calls, presentations, client travel, industry events, etc.
- Create and manage a yearly business plan for key accounts. Report and track to plan.
- Provide input into product design where products must be tailored to suit clients’ needs
- Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentations to illustrate benefits from use of goods or services
- Prepare and administer sales contracts
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to equipment
- May train customers’ staff in the operation and maintenance of equipment
- Mentor junior team members
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education or equivalent work experience
- Strong knowledge of lighting controls systems
- Advanced knowledge of the Lighting industry
- Ability to read and understand complicated architectural and electrical drawings.
- 5+ years in the Electrical industry with a proven ability to deliver and grow customer value
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Products & Solutions, specifically Outlook, Teams & Power Point.
- Excellent organizational practices.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated commitment to high performance, and motivated to deliver results
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to use an organized and logical approach to find solutions for complex problems.
- Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
- A valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
