About the Position

Bosley’s by Pet Valu is looking for an experienced and dependable Assistant Store Manager to join our Langley location.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working with customers, supporting a retail team and taking responsibility for day-to-day store operations. The Assistant Store Manager works closely with the Store Manager to maintain strong customer service, inventory, merchandising and operational standards.

We are particularly interested in candidates with previous retail leadership experience and knowledge of the pet industry. Experience with Bosley’s, Pet Valu, Tisol or another pet specialty retailer is strongly preferred.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Leading the Team

- Provide leadership and direction to team members during assigned shifts
- Lead by example and maintain a high standard of customer service
- Help train, coach and develop new and existing employees
- Assign daily priorities and follow up to ensure tasks are completed
- Support a positive, productive and professional work environment
- Open and close the store as scheduled
- Take responsibility for store operations when the Store Manager is unavailable
- Handle customer concerns and resolve issues professionally

Running the Store

- Support inventory management, ordering and stock accuracy
- Use AGR to manage inventory and product levels
- Coordinate receiving and ensure deliveries are processed correctly
- Maintain an organized stockroom and sales floor
- Assist with inventory counts, stock checks and discrepancy resolution
- Ensure shelves are stocked and products are properly merchandised
- Execute promotions, price changes and seasonal merchandising
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization and safety standards
- Handle cash, shift balancing and routine store administration




- Help ensure company procedures and operational standards are followed consistently

Supporting Pet Parents

- Help customers select appropriate pet food, treats, supplies and other products
- Develop and maintain strong knowledge of pet food, nutrition and pet-care products
- Provide knowledgeable and friendly product recommendations
- Help team members strengthen their own product knowledge and customer-service skills

What We’re Looking For

Required:

- Previous retail experience
- Previous leadership experience as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Key Holder or comparable position
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent customer-service skills
- Experience with inventory, receiving and merchandising
- Ability to organize a team, delegate tasks and manage competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable using computers, POS systems and retail software
- Flexible availability, including weekends and opening/closing shifts
- Ability to reliably commute to our Langley location
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lb

Strongly Preferred:

- Previous pet-store or pet-industry experience
- Previous experience with Bosley’s, Pet Valu, Tisol or another pet specialty retailer
- Strong knowledge of pet food, nutrition and pet-care products
- Experience using AGR inventory management

Additional Assets:

- Microsoft Office experience
- Basic accounting or bookkeeping knowledge
- QuickBooks experience
