Position Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Masking Operator who is responsible for preparing and masking metal parts prior to painting, coating, plating, or other finishing processes. The successful candidate will accurately follow job travellers and work instructions, use masking tools and materials safely and efficiently, and ensure parts meet required specifications and quality standards.
Here’s What You’ll Deliver:
- Mask metal parts according to job travellers, drawings, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Read and interpret travellers/job numbers to identify part descriptions and required masking procedures.
- Accurately use tape, knives, and other masking tools to prepare parts for the finishing process.
- Ensure masking is applied accurately to protect designated areas of parts from paint, coating, or other finishing materials.
- Scan jobs using the Microsoft Dynamics AX software system and maintain accurate job records.
- Inspect masked parts to ensure the masking meets required specifications before the parts move to the next production stage.
- Use measuring tools such as vernier calipers and protractors to verify dimensions and locations when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized,
and safe work area, including keeping machine and work surfaces clean at all times.
- Identify and report any quality issues, damaged parts, incorrect materials, or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
- Handle parts and masking materials carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
- Meet production schedules while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualification
- Previous experience in masking, painting preparation, metal finishing, aerospace manufacturing, or a similar manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand job travellers, work instructions, and part descriptions.
- Comfortable using tape, knives, and small hand tools.
- Ability to use basic measuring instruments such as vernier calipers and protractors.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use Microsoft Dynamics AX.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
