Job description
Niagara Food Company is looking for a Baker to join our team. A minimum of one year of baking experience is required. A baking or culinary education is desirable. We provide a fun work environment, comprehensive training, and creative freedom to help develop recipes.
As a Baker at Niagara Food Company, you will:
- Work as part of a small team to bake products from scratch every day, following carefully crafted recipes.
- Measure and prepare recipes for fillings, pie dough, cookie dough, savory products, and other menu items.
- Assemble and bake products to company standards and with correct packaging.
- Using ovens, various mixers, heat sources, and other equipment to prepare and bake products.
- Testing ingredients and goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality control.
- Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders and payments, and providing exceptional customer service.
- Keeping records relating to inventory levels, production schedules, and orders.
- Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and ready for the next day's use, checking expiry dates.
- Ensuring all ingredients and finished products are rotated to ensure FIFO to avoid any waste.
- Restocking the storefront to ensure displays are fully stocked with product.
- Completing daily and weekly cleaning tasks to keep the bakery and storefront in clean working order.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
- Portray a qualified appearance and be a positive role model for all Associates in the department in accordance with the Company Dress Code Policy.
- You'll also work alongside your team to keep the bakery clean and provide delightful customer service while working cash for retail customers.
- Prepare large wholesale orders and work production for any festivals and events.
What we are looking for:
- This is a day time job ranging from 6am -9am starts; must be able to work weekdays and weekends and any holidays.
- One year of Management experience within a professional kitchen.
- College training is an asset but not mandatory. If you don't have previous baking experience, please don't apply.
- A positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a strong sense of urgency.

- Demonstrated commitment to the bakery's success and to your own development.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous standing/walking for all tasks
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 kg
- Frequent turning and reaching
- Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, occasional forceful gripping
- Occasional pushing, pulling and some forward bending
- Ability to lift at least 2.5 kg to a height of 1.7 meters
Full time hours: 35-44 per week
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
