JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Controller, the Job Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial management of construction projects by ensuring accurate job costing, project reporting, budgeting, work-in-progress (WIP) analysis, and project financial performance. Working closely with Project Managers, Operations, Estimating, and the Finance team, this role monitors project costs from project award through closeout to ensure timely and accurate financial information for decision-making.

Location: Clearway Corporate Office – 45 Rodinea Road, Maple , Ontario.

Hour of Operation: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Compensation range: $80,000-90,000 (Based on qualifications, experience and relevant skills)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Accounting & Job Costing

- Oversee all job costing activities to ensure accurate allocation and reporting of project costs.
- Review project financial performance, budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
- Analyze project variances and identify risks, opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.




- Work closely with Project Managers to monitor project financial health and cost control measures.
- Lead monthly project reviews and provide financial recommendations to management.
- Monitor committed costs versus budgets and track change order status and profitability.

Accounts Receivable & Billing Management

- Oversee customer billing processes, including progress billings, contract invoicing, and change order billing.
- Manage accounts receivable activities and collection efforts to optimize cash flow.
- Review aging reports and work with customers and project teams to resolve outstanding balances.
- Ensure billing is accurate, timely, and compliant with contractual requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to facilitate collections and issue resolution.
- Support project-level and organizational cash flow forecasting aligned with billing and collection cycles.

Budgeting & Forecasting

- Assist the Controller with the preparation, monitoring, and maintenance of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Support monthly forecasting updates and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop and monitor operational budgets.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic planning initiatives.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

- Coordinate and assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare monthly financial rollups, project summaries, and management reporting packages.
- Review financial results and investigate significant variances.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of project-related financial information and supporting schedules.
- Support audit and year-end reporting requirements.

Systems, Controls & Compliance





- Act as a key user of ERP/job costing systems (Jonas).
- Ensure data integrity and optimize system utilization for project accounting and reporting.
- Develop and enhance financial dashboards and reporting tools.
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and construction lien requirements.

Collaboration

- Work closely with Project Managers to review project financial performance.
- Support Estimating by providing historical cost information for future bids.
- Partner with Operations to identify project risks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist Procurement with purchase order and subcontract cost tracking.
- Provide financial support to senior leadership for operational decision-making.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

- 3–5 years of accounting or job costing experience in the construction industry.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
- CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset.

- Experience with heavy civil, utilities, infrastructure, industrial, commercial, or general contracting is preferred.
- Experience with percentage-of-completion (or cost-to-cost) accounting and WIP reporting.
- Experience using Jonas Construction Software (or similar construction ERP)
