Job Summary

Creative Pathways Academy is an independent, arts-infused inclusive school serving students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 in the Cadboro Bay neighbourhood of Victoria, British Columbia.

We believe that meaningful learning happens when students feel engaged, inspired, and excited about what they are doing. By integrating the Fine Arts into everyday learning, we bring academic subjects to life. Whether students are exploring mathematical concepts through movement, developing their understanding of science through creative projects, or strengthening their literacy skills through storytelling and drama, they are encouraged to participate actively and take pride in their learning.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate upper elementary or middle school teacher for a 0.6 – 1.0 FTE. Expertise in mathematics and/or science is preferred. The successful candidate will create a positive and engaging learning environment, provide meaningful learning experiences, and support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong passion for education, an appreciation for the arts, excellent communication skills, and experience supporting students with diverse learning needs. This teacher will play an important role in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can develop confidence, curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Responsibilities:

- Design and deliver engaging, student-centered mathematics and science lessons aligned with the BC Ministry of Education curriculum standards.




- Integrate hands-on experiments, STEM/STEAM projects, and real-world problem-solving into daily routines.
- Facilitate engaging classroom activities that promote active learning and participation.
- Use effective communication skills to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities.
- Incorporate the First Peoples principles of learning and place-conscious approaches where appropriate.
- Utilize formative and summative assessment strategies to track student achievement.
- Differentiate instruction and design targeted interventions for students who need extra support or enrichment.
- Collaborate with educational assistants, the School Based Team, and parents regarding student progress and diverse learning plans.
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom culture utilizing effective behavior management.
- Maintain proactive, clear communication with families and guardians regarding academic and social growth.
- Participate actively in professional learning communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and school co-curricular activities.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Manage classroom behaviour and promote positive social interactions among students.
- Collaborate with colleagues,



parents/guardians, and support staff to meet each student’s unique needs.
- Collaborate with special education team to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional support.
- Incorporate early childhood education principles to foster foundational skills in young learners.

Education:

- Bachelor of Education (required)
- BC teaching credentials or in the process of applying for your TQS certification (required)

Experience:

- Classroom teaching experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of inclusive education strategies
- Teaching mathematics and science will be considered an asset
- Teaching other core subjects and the arts will be considered an asset
- Teaching student’s with neurodiversities
- Working from a trauma-informed lens
- Training, academic preparation and/or career development in the following areas are considered assets: Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Indigeneity of curriculum, Anti-racism, Authentic assessment, Differentiation of instruction, Inclusion, Inquiry, and Data-driven teaching.

Pay: $39.71-$51.00 per hour
