Schedule: Weekday afternoons during the school year, approximately 3:00–5:30 p.m. on assigned days. Exact days will be discussed based on program needs and availability.

Branches Arts & Community Development Network provides accessible after-school arts programming for children ages 8–12. Through music, art, games, and community activities, we create a protected and welcoming environment where children can build confidence, creativity, perseverance, and meaningful connections.

Position Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Piano Teacher to lead group piano instruction for beginner and returning students in our after-school program. The successful candidate will create engaging lessons that build musical skills while accommodating students with different levels of experience.

The Piano Teacher will collaborate with the Branches team to develop curriculum, prepare students for performances, and support the wider after-school program.

Responsibilities

- Plan and lead engaging group piano lessons for children ages 8–12
- Teach beginner and returning students at appropriate skill levels
- Develop foundational skills in technique, rhythm, note reading, chords, and ensemble playing
- Adapt lessons to accommodate different learning styles and levels of experience
- Monitor student progress and provide encouraging, constructive feedback




- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Help students build confidence and healthy practice habits
- Collaborate with other Branches teachers on curriculum, performances, and special projects
- Assist with student supervision, program setup, and end-of-day activities
- Help maintain an organized and safe classroom
- Complete incident reports and other light administrative tasks when required
- Participate in occasional performances, recitals, or special events

Qualifications

- Strong piano skills and a solid understanding of foundational piano technique
- Experience teaching piano or working with children is an asset
- A music degree, diploma, ARCT, or equivalent training is an asset but is not required
- Ability to teach students with different abilities, experience levels, and learning styles
- Strong communication, organization, reliability, and teamwork skills
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for helping young musicians grow
- Must provide a satisfactory criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check, before beginning employment

Pay: $20.00 per hour
