Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting all shop equipment, tools, and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This role focuses on minimizing downtime, identifying issues early, and maintaining equipment in a condition that supports production, safety, and quality standards. The role requires ownership of equipment condition and accountability for results.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform maintenance and repairs on shop equipment (welder machines, CNC equipment (plasma table, lathes, milling machines, brake press, plate rolls), hydraulic systems, compressors, bandsaws, forklifts, overhead & jib cranes, dust collection systems, and paint equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Perform repairs safely and efficiently
- Return equipment to safe operating condition

Preventive Maintenance

- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance
- Identify wear and potential failures early
- Maintain lubrication and inspection routines
- Track and complete PM tasks

Troubleshooting & Problem Solving

- Respond to equipment issues quickly
- Identify root causes, not just symptoms
- Communicate recurring issues
- Support production with equipment issues

Facility Maintenance

- Maintain lighting, electrical (basic), air systems, and infrastructure
- Ensure facility supports safe operation
- Address maintenance-related housekeeping issues





Safety

- Follow all safety procedures
- Ensure equipment is protected before returning to service
- Use lock-out/tag-out when required
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions

Housekeeping & Organization

- Maintain organized tools and work areas
- Keep maintenance areas clean
- Manage spare parts and consumables
- Store tools properly

Documentation & Traceability

- Complete maintenance documentation accurately
- Record repairs and PM activities
- Track recurring issues
- Do not return equipment to service without documentation
- Ensure documentation reflects actual work completed

Documentation is part of the job. Incomplete or inaccurate documentation will be treated the same as incomplete or poor-quality work.

Skill Levels

Level 1 – Junior: Assists with basic tasks, requires supervision

Level 2 – Technician: Handles routine maintenance independently

Level 3 – Senior: Troubleshoots and performs complex repairs

Level 4 – Lead: Leads maintenance, builds systems, tracks performance

Pay: $25.00-$38.00 per hour
