Your Opportunity:

We are looking for a Program Manager, Experts on Demand to join our Venture team in Edmonton.

In this role, you will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of Experts on Demand (EOD), a program that connects high-potential technology and innovation companies with experienced founders, operators, investors, and specialized experts to help address critical growth challenges.

This is not simply a program administration role. You will work directly with founders to understand what is really getting in the way of growth, determine whether expert support can materially move the company forward, and shape focused engagements with clear outcomes.

You will also help make thoughtful decisions about where limited program resources can create the greatest value. That means knowing when to support a project, when to challenge or refine it, and when another Edmonton Unlimited program or ecosystem resource may be a better fit.

This is an in-person role with active participation in Edmonton Unlimited’s workplace, team activities, and founder community. We are also open to candidates currently connected to the Calgary innovation ecosystem who are willing to relocate to Edmonton.

- Relationship Builder: You build strong working relationships across teams and communities. You share information, connect people to the right resources, and create a collaborative experience for founders, experts, and colleagues.
- Disciplined Operator: You can move between high-level strategic conversations and the practical details required to deliver a strong program, including scopes, contracts, budgets, milestones, documentation, and reporting.

What You’ll Do:

- Company Assessment & Discovery: Review company applications and lead conversations with founders to understand their stage, growth objectives, capabilities,



and underlying business challenges. Assess readiness, project fit, demonstrated progress, and the potential impact of EOD support.
- Project Scoping & Recommendations: Turn complex or ambiguous business challenges into focused engagements with clear objectives, milestones, timelines, responsibilities, hours, and measurable outcomes. Challenge, refine, reduce, redirect, or recommend declining projects when they do not represent the best use of program resources.
- Expert Assessment & Matching: Build and maintain a curated network of experienced founders, operators, investors, advisors, and specialized experts. Assess experts for relevant experience, judgment, founder fit, and ability to transfer knowledge, then match them with companies based on the specific challenge and desired outcome.
- Program & Resource Management: Own the day-to-day operation and annual delivery cycle of EOD. Manage program capacity and budget as a limited investment resource and prepare company assessments and project recommendations for Investment Committee review.
- Cross-Functional Founder Support: Work closely with Venture and teams across Edmonton Unlimited to create a connected experience for founders. Identify when another internal program, resource, team member, or ecosystem partner is better positioned to address a company’s needs and help make that connection.
- Contracts & Project Oversight: Manage EOD contracts, scopes of work, amendments, approvals, budgets, invoices, timelines, and supporting documentation. Monitor active projects against approved scope and milestones and address scope drift, delivery concerns, or work that falls outside program intent.
- Program Improvement & Insights: Maintain and strengthen EOD criteria, workflows, templates, documentation, and decision frameworks. Identify recurring founder needs, program gaps, and opportunities to improve EOD using company outcomes, feedback, and portfolio insights.
- Reporting & Accountability: Track program utilization, commitments, expenditures, company participation, expert engagement, and outcomes. Maintain accurate records and reporting for Edmonton Unlimited leadership, funders, audits, and program evaluation.
- Community & Relationship Management: Build productive relationships with founders, experts, investors, ecosystem partners, funders, and internal teams. Represent Experts on Demand and Edmonton Unlimited at relevant founder events, meetings, information sessions, and ecosystem activities.

What You Bring to the Role:

- Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in venture development, startups or scale-ups, investment, commercialization, consulting or advisory, economic development, founder support,



or another commercially oriented environment.
- Commercial Judgment: Strong understanding of the challenges companies face as they grow, including go-to-market, sales, commercialization, fundraising, product strategy, and business models.
- Founder & Executive Credibility: Confidence working with experienced founders, executives, investors, and experts, including the ability to challenge assumptions, negotiate scope, and make difficult decisions respectfully.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to assess ambiguous business challenges, identify underlying bottlenecks, and translate them into focused, high-value engagements.
- Resource Allocation: Experience making decisions where funding, time, or capacity is limited and competing priorities must be weighed against expected impact.
- Collaboration: Strong cross-functional and relationship-management skills, with a track record of sharing information, working collaboratively, and connecting people to the right supports.
- Program Management: Strong organizational and operational skills, including experience managing complex programs, budgets, contracts, consultants, timelines, and multiple concurrent priorities.
- Autonomy & Adaptability: Ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt as company needs, funding, and program priorities evolve.
- Ecosystem Knowledge: Working knowledge of Alberta’s technology, innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
- Education: Relevant post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
