Position Overview

Sun Glow is looking for a skilled, dependable and customer-focused Installer & Field Service Technician to install custom window coverings in residential and commercial locations throughout Toronto and the GTA.

This is not an entry-level general labour position.

We are looking for someone who is mechanically skilled, comfortable using hand and power tools, works efficiently, takes pride in doing the job properly and can confidently represent Sun Glow while working inside our customers' homes and businesses.

Previous window-covering experience is preferred, but we are also interested in experienced installers from related trades such as windows and doors, cabinetry, closets, millwork, glass, signage, AV, garage doors, fixtures and other finish-installation work.

What You Will Do

- Install custom roller shades, cellular shades, zebra/dual shades, motorized shades and other window-covering products.
- Travel to residential and commercial customer locations throughout the GTA.
- Use drills, impact drivers, levels, measuring equipment, anchors, ladders and other installation tools safely and effectively.
- Drill and fasten into drywall, wood, concrete, steel and other common building materials.
- Read work orders, measurements and installation instructions before beginning each job.
- Verify measurements and identify potential installation problems before installation.
- Perform check measurements when required.
- Install products level, square, secure and according to Sun Glow installation standards.
- Program and test motorized window coverings and controls after training.
- Troubleshoot installation and product issues while on site.
- Protect customer floors, furniture and property and leave the work area clean.
- Explain the completed installation and basic product operation to customers.




- Communicate professionally with homeowners, designers, contractors, property managers and other customers.
- Take photographs and properly document completed installations, deficiencies and service issues.
- Communicate job status and problems promptly to the Sun Glow office.
- Maintain the company vehicle, tools and installation equipment in clean and professional condition.
- Complete installations efficiently while maintaining high workmanship standards.

What We Are Looking For

Required:

- Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability using hand and power tools.
- Previous professional installation, construction, service technician, maintenance or related hands-on experience.
- Ability to measure accurately and work confidently with fractions and dimensions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and make sensible decisions at a customer site.
- Professional, respectful and customer-focused communication.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English with customers and Sun Glow team members regarding installations, problems, instructions and job status.
- Professional conduct and customer-ready appearance when working in homes and businesses.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain a productive installation pace.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Valid Ontario full G driver's licence.



Successful candidate will be required to provide proof of a valid licence and a driving record acceptable for operation of a company vehicle.
- Comfortable driving throughout Toronto and the GTA.
- Comfortable working from ladders and performing the physical duties associated with window-covering installation.

Preferred Experience

- Window shade, blind, shutter or drapery installation.
- Residential finish installation.
- Commercial construction or installation.
- Window and door installation.
- Cabinet, closet or millwork installation.
- Motorized window coverings.
- Low-voltage controls or basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Reading construction drawings or architectural plans.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
