Job Title: Shared Logistics Dispatcher (Axon Software – Willing to Train) – Super B Bulk & Liquid Tanker Division
Company: Somerville Farms (2014) Ltd.
Location: 409 Railway Ave W, Eatonia, SK S0L 0Y0 (On-site required; remote access provided for after-hours duties)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Shared Position / Team Environment)
About Us
Somerville Farms (2014) Ltd. is a proud, family-owned business established in 1974. Over the last 50+ years, we have grown into a well-known, respected agricultural and commercial trucking company built on "family first" values. Operating a modern fleet of highway tractors and well-maintained Super B trailers, we specialize in hauling bulk commodities—including grain, organics, dry fertilizer, potash, and liquid fertilizer—for customers across Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Position Overview
We are seeking a collaborative, emotionally intelligent Logistics Dispatcher to join our team in Eatonia, SK in a Shared Dispatch role. In this position, you will work hand-in-hand with an established dispatcher to co-manage our high-utilization fleet of Super B Bulk Hoppers and Liquid Tankers. Rather than carrying the entire workload alone, you will share responsibilities, pool regional knowledge, and back each other up to ensure seamless, stress-free fleet coverage.
We are specifically looking for a professional with a calm, resilient, and adaptive personality. You will serve as the core operator of our Axon Software system to manage dispatching and tracking. While experienced Axon users are highly valued,
we are fully willing to train the right candidate on our software provided you bring a strong transport background.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborative Fleet Coordination: Share daily dispatch duties to plan, schedule, and optimize our dedicated fleet of Super B bulk hoppers and liquid tankers across Saskatchewan and Alberta networks.
- Conflict Resolution & Relationship Management: Serve as a level-headed mediator when friction arises on the road or at the terminal. You will actively listen to drivers and customers, diffuse high-stress situations with professionalism, and pivot to creative solutions that satisfy both operational limits and client needs.
- Axon System Management: Partner to maintain absolute data accuracy within Axon, utilizing the software to live-dispatch loads, update trip statuses, enter fuel tickets, and process driver pay paperwork.
- Prairie Regulatory Compliance: Jointly monitor and manage legal axle weights up to 63,500 kg GVW, adapting routes for Saskatchewan’s Seasonal Trucking Weights and Alberta road restrictions.
- Shared After-Hours Coverage: Participate in a balanced, rotating schedule utilizing company-provided remote access to handle evening or weekend driver updates, reducing individual burnout.
Qualifications & Skills
- Conflict Resolution Skills:
Proven capability to de-escalate tension amongst drivers or customers and adapt a resolution fluidly as situations shift. A thick skin and exceptional emotional control are critical.
- Dispatch Experience: 2–3+ years of commercial truck dispatching experience, specifically within the Western Canadian bulk commodity, agricultural hopper, or fluid tanker sectors.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills and a team-first mindset necessary to succeed in a shared-responsibility workspace.
- Software Adaptability: Robust technical literacy and the ability to learn and adapt to Axon trucking software quickly. Direct experience is an asset, but comprehensive on-the-job training is provided.
- Work Arrangement: Ability to work full-time out of our Eatonia, SK office, with the flexibility to share rotating after-hours on-call responsibilities remotely.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary based on experience, with performance-based rewards.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance benefits package for you and your family.
- A supportive, open-door, and family-oriented workplace culture where employee well-being is valued.
