Litigation Associate | Coal Harbour Law

The Role

Coal Harbour Law is growing, and we are looking for a litigation associate (3 to 8 year call) to join our team in downtown Vancouver.

This role will suit a lawyer who has spent the past few years building a solid litigation foundation and is ready for the next step: running files, dealing directly with clients, and spending more time in court. You will have experienced litigators to learn from and lean on, but the goal is for you to carry your own files sooner than you would at most firms.

What You’ll Do

- Run a varied litigation caseload with increasing independence
- Draft pleadings, applications, and written submissions
- Handle legal research and help build case strategy
- Appear at chambers applications, discoveries, mediations, and trials
- Deal directly with clients and opposing counsel
- Get regular guidance and mentorship from senior counsel

What We’re Looking For

- 3 to 8 years of litigation experience (BC call preferred)
- Robust written and oral advocacy skills
- Confidence managing files and communicating with clients
- Someone who takes initiative and works well with others
- Interest in building a long-term practice with us

What We Offer

- $130,000 to $180,000 a year, depending on experience

About Coal Harbour Law

Coal Harbour Law is a boutique firm in downtown Vancouver. We are a little over 20 people (lawyers and paralegals) who come from all sorts of professional backgrounds: national firms, sole practice, and in some cases businesses outside of law. What brought us together is a shared view that you can do excellent legal work without the usual big-firm grind.
