Position: Night Security / Barback Staff
Location: The Drake Screaming Reriever Restaurant & Brewery Canmore, Alberta
Hours: 9:00 PM – Approximately 3:30 AM (Late Nights / Weekends Required)

Job Description:
We are seeking reliable, professional, and hardworking individuals to join our team as Night Security / Barback staff. This role combines front-door security responsibilities with bar support duties, making it ideal for candidates who are both observant and team-oriented.

Requirements:

- Must hold valid ProServe Certification
- Must hold valid ProTect (Security Worker) Certification in Alberta
- Previous experience in bar security, hospitality, or customer service is an asset, but not required
- We welcome applicants from a variety of work backgrounds who bring transferable skills
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Must be able to work effectively within a team
- Ability to make quick, sound decisions in fast-paced situations
- Physically capable of standing for long periods and performing manual tasks
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
- Must be available for late-night shifts, including weekends and holidays

Key Responsibilities:

- Check and verify government-issued ID at entry
- Monitor patron behavior and ensure a safe setting
- Handle intoxicated individuals professionally and lawfully
- De-escalate conflicts and remove patrons when necessary
- Work closely with team members and management to maintain safety

Barback Duties Include:

- Stocking fridges and ice wells throughout the shift
- Clearing tables and collecting glassware
- Washing and organizing glassware
- Assisting bartenders with general support tasks
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of bar areas





Additional Duties:

- Assist with opening/setup of the bar before service
- Help with closing duties at the end of the night, including cleaning, restocking, and securing the venue

Security / Barback Staff – Duties & Responsibilities

Security Duties:

- Greet all patrons in a professional and respectful manner upon entry
- Check and verify valid government-issued identification
- Scan patrons into the system (if applicable)
- Always monitor and maintain legal capacity limits
- Observe patron behavior and identify potential issues early
- De-escalate conflicts using professional communication and presence
- Remove patrons when necessary in a safe, controlled, and lawful manner
- Communicate clearly with team members regarding incidents or concerns
- Maintain a visible and proactive presence throughout the venue
- Ensure all entry/exit points remain secure and organized

Barback Duties:

- Clear tables of glassware, bottles, and plates in a timely manner
- Run glassware through the glass washer and return items to proper storage
- Keep bar areas clean, organized, and free of clutter
- Refill and maintain ice wells throughout the shift
- Change kegs as needed
- Stock beer fridges and liquor shelves regularly
- Assist bartenders with restocking and general support
- Ensure all bar supplies are maintained at appropriate levels

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
