You Are:
As Infrastructure Automation Developer, under limited supervision, performs overall design, development, and integration of systems and applications to address business needs pertaining to automation, monitoring, DevOps support, container technologies, and related developer enablement capabilities (cloud and/or in-house).
The opportunity:
- Assists with the architecture, design, development, implementation, and integration of automation, monitoring, DevOps support, container technologies, and related developer enablement capabilities in support of IT and business objectives
- Assists with analysis of IT or business problems and assist with the evaluation, development, and recommendation of specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements
- Assists with implementation of best fit solutions.
- Assists with architecture, design, deployment, and integration of solutions and ensure all quality and change control standards are met
- Assists with root cause investigations and provide recommendations for preventative measures.
- Proactively address gaps with existing support processes, documentation, etc. and prioritize accordingly
- Assists with development and documentation of processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Assists with regular status, operational, incident, and change reports.

What you need:
- Education and experience 7+ years of experience developing application hosting architectures and services utilizing containers, cloud services, and automation
- General ability to design solutions that are scalable, secure, performant, supportable, and cost effective
- General skills in identifying and eliminating unnecessary and mundane tasks to improve IT operational efficiency
- General abilities to simplify overly complex concepts and solutions for stakeholder communications
- General skill in at least one enterprise operating system
- General knowledge of application/data security best practices
- General oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
- Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
- General investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
- General ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously
- Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Ability to work well within a team setting and participate in department/team projects
- Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
- General ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
- General skills in customer relationship management and change management
- Ability to manage multiple projects or teams and set applicable goals
- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
- Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of container based hosting architectures (Docker, Swarm, Kubernetes)
- Strong knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Powershell)
- Strong knowledge of CI / CD platform management (Jenkins, Nexus, Sonarqube, Vault)
- Strong knowledge of Security certifications, load balancing, DNS management
- Strong knowledge of software development practices (code management, Agile tools, automated testing)
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies, API and microservices development, scripting, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), MongoDB, Postgres, Grafana, Terraform
- Strong knowledge of monitoring and ing practices and toolsets (Datadog, PagerDuty)
- Bachelor´s degree in STEM or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience
- Preferred: 5+ years experience designing and deploying continuous integration environments and platforms 4-6 years experience leveraging cloud platform and SaaS solutions
- Relevant experience or understanding of Agile concepts and ceremonies
- Working experience developing CI/CD pipelines, container-based architectures, cloud-based architectures
- Experience contributing to Open Source initiatives
- Requirements management tool experience (Azure DevOps or others) Master’s degree/LOMA certification/Professional designation; Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Remote - Canada
Compensation Range: $104,000-$130,000
Benefits
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year). They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
Part-time regular and temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).
All Canadian employees who work in a province, territory or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
