Commercial Construction Site Foreman / Supervisor

Hedman Construction Ltd. is hiring a Commercial Construction Site Foreman / Supervisor to join our team.

We are a COR Certified company with steady local work and a growing portfolio of commercial construction projects.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5–10 years of experience in the construction industry, with strong hands-on construction experience and a proven ability to lead crews and coordinate construction activities. The candidate must be confident in their role as a Foreman/Supervisor, be organized, and be capable of managing multiple job sites when required.

This is a working leadership position. The successful candidate will be required to perform carpentry and other hands-on construction tasks when necessary, while also directing employees, subcontractors, and other trades.

The position provides an opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take on increased supervisory responsibilities as company and project capacity grows. The successful candidate may also provide Lead Hand support to other Supervisors within the company when required.

The ideal candidate will:

- Have a strong knowledge of the commercial construction industry.
- Have a explicit understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and project coordination.
- Be organized and able to effectively plan and maintain project schedules.
- Understand project budgets and be able to monitor labour, materials, and other project costs.
- Identify potential issues early and make practical changes to minimize costs while maintaining quality and schedule.




- Be comfortable coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors.
- Have strong leadership and communication skills.
- Be capable of working independently and making sound decisions in the field.
- Have good computer skills and be comfortable with construction-related software and documentation.
- Take pride in maintaining a secure, clean, organized, and professional job site.
- Standard hours, some overtime and weekends may be required.

Responsibilities will include:

- Collaborate with the construction team to determine project requirements and priorities.
- Plan and coordinate daily construction activities.
- Organize and direct employees, subcontractors, and trades.
- Establish work priorities and help maintain project schedules.
- Set performance expectations and provide direction and feedback to employees.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates to Project Managers and company management.
- Monitor labour, material, and equipment costs to help keep projects on budget.
- Identify and resolve construction, scheduling, and coordination issues.
- Perform carpentry and other hands-on construction work when required.
- Assist other Supervisors with Lead Hand and field leadership responsibilities when required.




- Coordinate inspections and assist with obtaining required permits from local authorities.
- Implement and maintain company safety and quality standards.
- Order required materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Coordinate equipment requirements and arrange for maintenance when necessary.
- Monitor material inventory and ensure materials are available when required.
- Ensure job sites remain safe, clean, organized, and orderly.
- Respond to and resolve on-site issues and emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, health, quality, and construction requirements.
- Assist with the successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

- 5–10 years of commercial construction experience.
- Previous experience as a Foreman, Lead Hand, Journeyperson, or Supervisor.
- Strong carpentry and general construction skills.
- Robust knowledge of commercial construction practices.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Valuable communication and leadership abilities.
- Positive computer skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.

Compensation

Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.

Job Type: Full time

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
