THE CHALLENGE
The HR Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle at TURBINE-X, with a strong focus on recruitment, onboarding, employee support, and HR administration. Based in Nisku, Alberta, this role partners with managers and employees to provide responsive HR support, maintain accurate records, and help ensure compliance with company policies and employment legislation.
This position is ideal for someone who is organized, people-focused, and comfortable balancing recruitment, employee support, and day-to-day HR priorities in a fast-paced and growing environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for hourly, salaried, technical, and professional positions.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce requirements, role expectations, and hiring priorities.
- Develop and post job advertisements across recruitment platforms, job boards, and social media channels.
- Source candidates through job boards, networking, referrals, direct outreach, and other recruitment strategies.
- Review applications, screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate hiring manager interviews.
- Manage candidate communications throughout the recruitment process and help create a positive candidate experience.
- Conduct reference checks, prepare employment offers, and coordinate pre-employment requirements.
- Maintain candidate pipelines and track recruitment activity, hiring timelines, and key recruitment metrics.
- Support workforce planning and succession initiatives as required.
- Contribute to employer branding initiatives that position TURBINE-X as an employer of choice.
Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle Administration
- Coordinate onboarding activities to provide new employees with a smooth and welcoming start.
- Prepare employment agreements, new hire documentation, orientation materials, and required employee forms.
- Facilitate employee orientation and support onboarding programs across the organization.
- Coordinate with managers and internal teams to ensure employees have the information and resources required for their first day and beyond.
- Maintain complete and compliant employee records and documentation throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Prepare employee status change documents, employment verification letters, and other HR correspondence.
- Monitor probationary periods and support managers with required employee reviews and documentation.
- Coordinate offboarding activities, including exit documentation, exit interviews, system notifications, and employment records.
HR Administration & Systems
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and organized employee records within electronic HR systems and filing structures.
- Administer and maintain employee information within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Support accurate employee data across HR, payroll, benefits, organizational charts, and employee directories.
- Prepare HR reports, workforce metrics, and data summaries to support business and workforce decisions.
- Support payroll administration by ensuring employee information, status changes, and related documentation are current and accurate.
- Monitor employee training, certifications, licences, required renewals, and other employee compliance information.
- Assist with benefits administration, including employee enrolments, changes, documentation, and general inquiries.
- Maintain HR templates, forms, trackers, reports, and department documentation.
Employee Support & Relations
- Serve as an approachable and trusted resource for employees regarding HR policies, programs, benefits, time off, and general employment matters.
- Respond to employee questions in a timely, professional, and confidential manner.
- Support managers with employee relations matters, documentation, coaching, and day-to-day HR guidance.
- Assist with performance management processes, employee documentation, and follow-up activities.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and internal communication initiatives.
- Help create a positive, respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
- Build strong working relationships with employees and managers across office, manufacturing, and operational teams.
Policy, Compliance & HR Programs
- Support compliance with Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, privacy requirements, and company policies.
- Assist with the development, review, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation to support audits, reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Support HR programs related to performance management, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement.
- Participate in HR projects, process improvements, system enhancements, and department initiatives.
- Partner with operational and HSE leaders to support workplace health and safety programs and employee requirements.
- Help ensure HR processes remain consistent, practical, scalable, and aligned with organizational growth.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report HR metrics related to recruitment, turnover, headcount, onboarding, training, and workforce trends.
- Maintain accurate recruitment trackers, employee records, and HR dashboards.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee communications, documentation, and system efficiency.
- Support improvements to recruitment workflows, onboarding processes, employee records management, and reporting practices.
- Contribute to HR initiatives that improve the employee and candidate experience.
- Help build consistent and scalable HR practices as TURBINE-X continues to grow.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Experience
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- One to three years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting full-cycle recruitment and employee onboarding.
- Working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights requirements, and HR best practices.
- Experience using Human Resources Information Systems and maintaining employee records.
- Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems, recruitment platforms, job boards, and candidate management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong reporting, documentation, and data management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications
- CPHR designation or active progress toward designation is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting HR within manufacturing, industrial, energy, engineering, or similarly fast-paced environments.
- Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee groups.
- Familiarity with payroll administration, benefits administration, training matrices, and employee compliance tracking.
- Experience supporting employee engagement, performance management, or talent development programs.
- Experience with HR reporting, dashboards, or workforce analytics is considered an asset.
PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Follow all X-Group Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, safe work practices, and training requirements.
- Participate in required safety orientations, toolbox talks, audits, and training sessions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment when entering manufacturing, shop, warehouse, or operational areas.
- Maintain safe work practices and help ensure work areas remain free from avoidable hazards.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, or concerns promptly in accordance with company procedures.
- Take reasonable precautions to protect your own safety and the safety of others.
- Ability to periodically visit production and operational areas as part of employee support activities.
- Occasional travel to company locations, recruitment events, career fairs, or industry events may be required.
