Coffee Roaster - Part-Time (Specialty Coffee/ Barista Background Required)
This is a unique opportunity for passionate baristas: paid, hands-on training on the roaster, no course fees. You'll learn green coffee, roast profiles, cupping, and quality control from the ground up. In return, you bring a specialty coffee background and the palate that comes with it.
About Us
Founded in 2013, Latte Booth is a mobile espresso bars company known for creating memorable coffee experiences - from corporate service to brand activations across Canada. We're now roasting in-house and building our own coffee brand.
The Role
This is a regular, ongoing part-time role - roughly 10–15 hours per week of production roasting. We'll train you on the machine; you bring a specialty coffee background and the palate that comes with it.
You'll learn and run the full cycle: green coffee, roast profiles, cupping, and quality control, producing consistent, repeatable results batch to batch.
Key Responsibilities
- Roast to profile with consistency and accuracy, batch after batch.
- Cup and evaluate roasts for quality control.
- Weigh, package, and label finished coffee.
- Keep the roastery clean, organized, and orderly.
- Log and track every roast to ensure repeatable results.
- Support the development of our coffee brand - testing profiles and dialing in blends.
Qualifications
- Barista experience at a specialty / third-wave café (required), with a developed palate and strong coffee knowledge.
- Genuine interest in developing into roasting and the back-end of coffee.
- Consistent, reliable weekly availability - this role needs dependable regular hours,
not occasional cover.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and exact - roasting rewards consistency above all.
- Able to commute reliably to our East York facility (Bermondsey Rd).
- Comfortable with regular light lifting (7-8 lb buckets); occasional heavier green coffee bags, usually with help.
- Marketing, social media, content, or e-commerce skills are an asset.
Hours & Growth
This is a steady ~10–15 hour/week role with room to grow as our roasting and brand expand - including a path toward more hours and, for the right person, a larger role over time. Additional hours may also be available through barista shifts or light kitchen work for those interested.
What We Offer
- Paid, hands-on roasting training on professional equipment.
- Direct mentorship from our founder, with extensive experience in specialty coffee and marketing.
- Involvement in the development of a new coffee brand.
- A collaborative team focused on quality.
