Job Summary

Perras Distefano Construction & Design Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects while supporting pre-construction planning from initial bid through project award.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional who can work independently, build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, and contribute to the continued growth of our company. Following an initial onboarding period at our Cornwall office, this position offers a hybrid work arrangement for candidates residing within Eastern Ontario.

Duties

- Prepare complete cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analyses.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Identify scope gaps, project risks, and value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare budgets, conceptual estimates, and competitive tender submissions.
- Coordinate with project managers, consultants, clients, and subcontractors during pre-construction.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project review meetings as required.




- Assist with project handoff following successful bid awards.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical costing information, and supplier relationships.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and procedures.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional (ICI) construction.
- Ability to independently prepare complete estimates from drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, CCDC contracts, and Ontario procurement practices.
- Reside within Eastern Ontario and be available to work from our Cornwall office during the initial onboarding period.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with pre-engineered steel buildings.
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
- Gold Seal Certification or other relevant industry credentials.

Performance Bonus

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible for a performance-based bonus. Bonuses are awarded based on individual contribution and company performance, including factors such as:
