Position Description
Reporting to Sexual Violence New Brunswick’s (SVNB) Director of Intervention Services and working collaboratively with SVNB staff as needed, the Campus Sexual Assault Support Advocate (CSASA) is a staff member of SVNB and will provide trauma-informed support services to survivors of sexual violence in the on the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Saint John site.
The CSASA functions as the recommended first point of contact or referral for any Member of the UNB Campus Community in Saint John who has experienced sexual violence. The CSASA will provide direct support, advocacy, education, prevention, and strategic development to foster a safer and more supportive campus environment in Saint John.
This is a part time (3 days per week), position subject to funding, job performance and meeting minimum qualifications.
Duties/Responsibilities
Direct Support and Advocacy
· Be primary contact person for any member of the Saint John UNB campus community who has been impacted by sexual violence related to their campus experience
· Provide high-quality, trauma-informed, short-term sexual assault intervention services counselling to survivors of sexual violence
· Assist survivors in navigating campus and community resources, including health services, legal support, and academic accommodations
· Develop and maintain robust advocacy networks to support the needs of survivors
· Maintain secure and confidential files on students seeking support
· Be knowledgeable about campus services, accommodations, and programs and services and programs within the Saint John UNB campus community
· Work in collaboration with other campus resources (e.g. Campus Security, Counselling Services, Student Health Centre, and Residence Life) to effectively support the needs of anyone who has experienced a sexual assault
· Co-facilitate the delivery of SVNB’s sexual violence support groups
Strategic Development and Evaluation
· Participate in research, evaluation, and consultation to develop innovative and effective policies and prevention strategies
· Monitor and evaluate the progress of implemented strategies of preventing and responding to sexual violence on campus
· Contribute to ongoing case reviews, evaluations, and data collection efforts
· Serve as an ex-officio member of the UNB Task Force on Campus Sexual Assault
· Compile statistical reports for the UNB Task Force on Campus Sexual Assault related to the incidence, prevalence, and response to sexual assault that occur in their communities
· Help the Saint John UNB campus community understand unmet needs of the campus community (related to sexual violence) and any gaps in the response to sexual violence on campus or in the community
· Provide feedback regarding challenges with existing policies, procedures, and on-campus disciplinary procedures
· Work to examine patterns, trends, and concerns of members of the Saint John UNB campus community reaching out for help
· Aid in the development and implementation of sexual assault policies and protocols
· Work closely with UNB’s Senior Director of Health and Wellness to ensure alignment with campus health and wellness strategies
· Maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments such as security, residence life, health centers, accessibility services, and academic units to provide integrated support for survivors
· Collaborate on creating other SVNB materials as needed
· Adhere to the most current SVNB policies
· Perform other related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
· Knowledge and experience of gender-based violence, particularly violence against women; feminist principles and a demonstrated commitment to the eradication of violence against women
· Licensed/registered counsellor, or social worker (with counselling experience), in good standing, in the province of New Brunswick
· Bilingual in English and French is an asset
· Extensive knowledge and experience in sexual assault intervention is essential
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client service skills
· Strong facilitation, coordination and time management skills
· Completion of the SVNB’s Counselling Survivors of Sexual Violence: Training for Therapists and Counsellors is
· Experience in an office setting and using office technology
· Self-directed, takes initiative, creative and adaptable; able to work in a team and independently
· Possesses a current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

Hours of Work
Work week is 22.5 hours per week with set office hours generally during a Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm timeframe. Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekend work to meet program needs.
Renumeration
The halftime salary is prorated based on a full-time equivalent (FTE) salary range of $60,446 - 67,608. For part-time employees, this would equate to an annual salary range of $36,268 to $40,565, depending on experience and qualifications.
