The Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and day-to-day oversight of a fully licensed Montessori child care centre. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, supports high-quality programming, and provides guidance and supervision to staff while fostering a positive, professional, and nurturing learning environment for children and families.
Leadership and Staff Management
- Supervise, guide, and evaluate educators with respect to classroom practice, child guidance, and professional conduct.
- Support staff through observation, coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Model professionalism, appropriate workplace conduct, and Montessori values at all times.
- Support staff scheduling, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development.
Program and Learning Environment
- Support the implementation of Montessori programming that aligns with child development principles and best practices.
- Assist educators with classroom planning, material preparation, and daily routines.
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for all children.
- Support consistent application of behaviour guidance strategies.
Family and Community Engagement
- Serve as a key point of contact for families regarding programming, policies, and day-to-day operations.
- Conduct school tours and respond to enrollment-related inquiries.
- Participate in open houses, community events, and school programs.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians in all situations.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete and maintain required records, reports, and documentation.
- Support fee tracking, attendance records, and internal logs as required.
- Ensure timely completion of incident reports, medication records, and daily documentation.
Regulatory Compliance, Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) and all applicable Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, and Public Health requirements.
- Implement and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of health and safety tools, including daily observation forms, sanitation logs, medication records, and environmental assessments.
- Support inspections, audits, and compliance reviews as required.
Professional Expectations
- Maintain confidentiality of all information relating to children, families, staff, and school operations.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Montessori practice, child development, and regulatory expectations.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role and responsibilities of Supervisor, as reasonably assigned.
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements
- A recognized MACTE- or AMI-approved Montessori Diploma or Certificate and/or an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma or Degree.
- Where applicable, registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) prior to commencement of employment.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Up-to-date immunization records and current TB screening.
- A transparent Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
