Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant plays a key role within the finance team, preparing and analyzing financial information and supporting the continuous improvement of Cancarb’s financial reporting processes. This position supports the development of monthly financial reporting packages, year-end financial statements, audit working papers, forecasts, budgets, and managerial reporting used to support decision-making across the business. The Accountant will help transform financial and operational data into meaningful insights through variance analysis, financial modelling and ad hoc analysis for management.

Qualifications: Required

· CPA designation. · Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in accounting or financial analysis. · Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with ability to investigate issues, identify trends,



and develop practical recommendations. · Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. · Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with large data sets. · Experience working with ERP systems.

· Able to respond quickly within a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline sensitive environment.

· Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Considered an asset:

· Experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Experience preparing dashboards, visual reports, or presentations for management.

· Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. · Experience with tools such as Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, SharePoint, Microsoft 365 CoPilot or other AI-enabled tools, Microsoft Fabric/OneLake, or other similar platforms. · Additional training or certifications in business intelligence, data analytics, financial modelling, data structuring, or financial systems.

This position requires candidates to: · Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.





· Assist with year-end financial statements and support the external audit by preparing reconciliations, gathering documentation, responding to requests, and providing audit samples and analysis.

· Support the preparation of forecasts, budgets, financial models, and management reporting.

· Maintain dashboards, financial reports, charts, and analytical tools that provide insight into business performance.

· Analyze financial and operational data from ERP and reporting systems to identify trends, explain variances, improve reporting accuracy, and support decision-making.

· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives involving financial reporting, data management, reporting tools, and system efficiencies.

· Prepare parent-company reporting and respond to information requests from Tokai Carbon Co. Ltd.

· Complete GST, CRA, government, provincial, statistical, ISO, internal-control, and other compliance reporting requirements.

· Support the finance team with recurring accounting activities and other duties as assigned.
