So Che’ is a boutique café in the heart of Gastown, Vancouver, created around one simple idea: to make every guest feel truly cherished.

We serve carefully crafted coffee using locally roasted beans, signature soft serve inspired by Italy, freshly made pastries and sweets, and a thoughtfully curated selection of boutique merchandise and gifts.

We are looking for a Barista / Café All-Rounder who is warm, reliable, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoys creating a welcoming experience for every guest. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety and wants to be part of the day-to-day operation of a unique boutique café.

About the Role

As a Barista / Café All-Rounder, you will help with the daily operation of So Che’, including preparing and serving coffee and specialty beverages, making our signature soft serve, assisting guests with our boutique merchandise, and maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting café setting.

You will be an important part of the So Che’ experience and will help ensure that every guest receives friendly, thoughtful, and attentive service.

Key Responsibilities

Coffee & Beverage Service

- Prepare and serve espresso, coffee, specialty drinks, tea, and other beverages according to So Che’ standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso and café equipment properly.
- Provide consistent quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Assist with daily opening and closing procedures.

Soft Serve & Food Service

- Prepare and serve our signature soft serve ice cream.
- Prepare and serve pastries, cookies, and other café offerings.
- Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.




- Monitor product freshness, presentation, and inventory.

Customer Service

- Welcome every guest warmly and provide genuine, attentive service.
- Take orders accurately and efficiently.
- Answer questions about our coffee, soft serve, pastries, and merchandise.
- Create a friendly and memorable experience for guests of all ages.
- Handle customer requests and concerns professionally.

Boutique Merchandise

- Assist customers with selecting and purchasing curated merchandise and gift items.
- Learn about our products and be able to explain their features and stories.
- Keep merchandise displays clean, organized, and visually appealing.
- Assist with restocking, inventory, pricing, and merchandising.
- Process merchandise and café transactions accurately through the POS system.

Café Operations

- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the café, service area, equipment, and merchandise displays.
- Restock supplies and communicate inventory needs to management.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
- Follow health, safety, food handling, and workplace procedures.
- Support the team with other day-to-day café duties as required.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous barista, café, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience is an asset.
- Experience with espresso preparation is preferred,



but training may be provided for the right candidate.
- Comfortable learning and working across multiple areas of the café.
- Friendly, approachable, and genuinely enjoys interacting with people.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Able to work independently while also being a supportive team member.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable handling cash and using a POS system.
- Willingness to learn about coffee, soft serve, pastries, and boutique products.
- FoodSafe certification is an asset.
