Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages with precision and flair in a community centre setting.
- Handle cash register transactions using POS systems such as Micros POS, accurately processing payments and giving correct change.
- Assist customers with menu selections, answer questions about food and drinks, and ensure their needs are met promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area, including food preparation stations, dining areas, and equipment to adhere to food safety standards.
- Manage food handling responsibilities by preparing light snacks or food items as needed while following proper safety protocols.
- Support the team in food service operations by serving meals or snacks efficiently during busy hours.
- Use effective time management skills to prioritize tasks, ensuring quick service during peak times without sacrificing quality or safety.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a barista or in the food industry is highly preferred; familiarity with serving and food preparation is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests.
- Experience operating POS systems or cash handling equipment.
- Knowledge of basic math for cash handling, making change, and order calculations.
- Understanding of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Food service experience including cashiering, serving, or barista duties is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidates.
