We're looking for cinematographers to take part in the 48-Hour Vertical Film Showcase—a filmmaking challenge where you’ll work with a team to create an original vertical short film in just 48 hours.
This is your opportunity to put your cinematography skills to work under real creative constraints, experiment with vertical storytelling, and have your work seen by a global, community-voted audience.
Your camera work could help bring the next great story to life. What You'll Do
Collaborate with a filmmaking team to create an original vertical short film
Develop the film’s visual language and cinematographic approach
Work with composition, camera movement, lighting, framing, and visual storytelling
Shoot the project within the 48-hour production window
Work within the showcase brief provided on the platform
Submit the completed film through UMDB
Showcase your cinematography to a global audience Requirements
18 or older A genuine passion for cinematography and visual storytelling
Experience shooting video or a strong understanding of camera fundamentals
Ability to work creatively within a team and under a tight deadline
Access to a camera, smartphone, or other suitable recording equipment
Basic understanding of lighting, composition, framing, and camera operation
All footage must be original and captured within the 48-hour window
