About the Project The Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project is one of Canada's most significant infrastructure initiatives, replacing the existing Alexandra Bridge that has connected Ottawa, Ontario, and Gatineau, Quebec for more than 120 years. As a vital interprovincial transportation corridor within the National Capital Region, the bridge serves thousands of pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and transit users while forming an integral part of Confederation Boulevard.
Having reached the end of its service life, the existing bridge will be replaced with a modern, resilient crossing designed to meet the region's long-term transportation needs.

About the job Reporting to the Bridge Design Engineer and/or the Pre-Construction Manager, the CAD Drafter will prepare accurate engineering drawings, plans, layouts, and 3D models for bridge construction. The role will translate engineering specifications, sketches,
and technical information into detailed construction documents while ensuring compliance with project requirements, company standards, and industry guidelines. The CAD Drafter will also review and verify drawings, coordinate design details with internal teams, and document revisions throughout the design process.
What you'll be doing Generate engineering drawings of bridge structures and profiles of bridge elevations for construction as required by our Technical Dept.
Work from notes, verbal instructions, sketches and drawings, or engineering specifications; consolidates the information to be used to prepare working plans, layouts and detailed drawings.
Review the design and helps resolve the details not completely defined. Determines the best combination of all the preliminary information and contributing data to develop the final design.
Develop designs or drawings using engineering principals, established company standards, procedures, and instructions.
Review engineering drawings and supporting documents for adherence to industry design standards.
Verify completed work; checks dimensions, materials to be used, processing information, etc.
Coordinate with other internal departments as required.
Assure that any changes are documented and prepared in accordance with engineering change procedures and in a timely manner.
Follow company procedures, work instructions and guidelines in the design, layout, and documentation i.e. procedure, classification coding and retrieval system, CAD drafting and archival guidelines, etc. What we are looking for
Experience with some of the following software is required: Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Tekla, RebarCAD, Primavera P6, Autodesk Forma, Autodesk ReCap, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Revizto,
SYNCHRO, ProcoreBridge Elevation and Profile Drawings or 3D rendering software.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
3D Modeling experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D systems.
Exposure to bridge construction, bridge rehabilitation or major civil infrastructure projects is preferred.
Robust attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple deadlines.

Expected Base Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year. The actual base salary will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
