Role Description The Cook is a full-time, on-site role located in Bradford West Gwillimbury, ON, responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children and staff in accordance with dietary guidelines and centre policies. Day-to-day tasks include planning menus, ordering and organizing food supplies, and preparing meals that meet health, safety, and allergy requirements. The Cook maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen, follows food safety regulations, and ensures proper storage and labeling of food items.

The role also involves coordinating meal times with classroom schedules, accommodating special dietary needs,



and collaborating with centre leadership to support a positive, child-focused environment.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience as a cook or in food preparation, preferably in childcare, school, or institutional settings.

Knowledge of nutrition for children, including allergy awareness and dietary restrictions.

Understanding of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and protected food handling procedures; food handler certification is a requirement .

Ability to plan menus, manage inventory, and organize a kitchen efficiently.

Strong time management skills and ability to work independently while meeting meal schedules.

Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach when working with educators, administrators, and families.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift supplies, and perform routine kitchen tasks safely.

Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for children and colleagues.

Posses a valid Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR-C Certification.
