Dashcam Installation Technician
Position Type: Full-time
Compensation: $54,000/year (Gross) + Extended Health Insurance
Vehicle Provided: Company vehicle provided for all work-related travel
Equipment & Gear Provided: All installation tools, equipment, and branded company clothing are provided by the company
Primary Locations: Surrey, Langley, Richmond (and surrounding areas)
Standard Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Includes a flexible 1-hour break that can be taken based on your daily dispatch schedule)
Premium Pay: Work performed after 6:00 PM or on weekends qualifies for Premium Pay at 1.5x the base hourly rate, in compliance with British Columbia employment standards.
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Dashcam Installation Technician to join our growing field operations team. In this role, you will drive a company-provided vehicle to local automotive dealerships across Surrey, Langley, and Richmond to perform professional dashcam installations.
The ideal candidate takes pride in precision workmanship, excels at safe trim removal, and maintains excellent communication with dispatch and management. Prior experience in dashcam installation, 12V vehicle electronics, or automotive technician work is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Dashcam Installation: Install front and rear dashcam units, hardwire kits, OBD power cables, and auxiliary battery packs across a wide variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Trim & Panel Handling: Safely and carefully remove interior automotive trim, body panels, and pillar covers without causing scratches,
broken clips, or cosmetic damage.
- System Testing & Calibration: Verify full functionality, power delivery, parking mode operation, SD card formatting, and camera angle alignment upon installation completion.
- Job Completion Reporting: Complete each assignment within the designated timeframe, document work via WhatsApp/mobile system updates, and close out job tickets in the system immediately after completion.
- Dealership Relations: Represent the company professionally when interacting with dealership staff, service managers, and clients at each location.
- Equipment & Fleet Maintenance: Track stock (dashcams, hardwire kits, trim tools) and keep the company vehicle clean and properly maintained.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1 year of experience in dashcam installation, 12V automotive electronics, or as an automotive technician is preferred (not required).
- Driver's License: Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record (required to drive the company vehicle).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency or strong familiarity with hardwiring electronics into fuse boxes, utilizing OBD power cables, installing auxiliary batteries, and safe trim removal.
- Safety Awareness:
Solid knowledge of side-curtain airbag placement and commitment to airbag-safe cable routing standards.
- Communication: Ability to communicate clearly via WhatsApp and internal mobile apps to send video/photo proof of completed installations.
- Robust problem-solving skills, punctuality, and the ability to work independently in the field.
