Role Description This full-time, on-site Fitter Welder role is located in Welland, ON.
The Fitter
Welder will interpret drawings and blueprints, lay out, fit, and assemble structural and plate steel components, and perform high-quality welding using appropriate processes and positions. Daily tasks include measuring and cutting materials, tacking and final welding, grinding, and finishing to specified tolerances, as well as checking work for accuracy and alignment. The role involves working with custom bulk material handling equipment and general fabrication projects, operating common shop tools and equipment, and following all safety procedures and quality standards.
The Fitter
Welder will collaborate with supervisors and team members, assist with material handling, and help maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols, with strong layout and fitting abilities.
Demonstrated skill in GMAW/MIG, SMAW/Stick, and other common welding processes, including experience with structural and plate steel welding.
Experience using hand and power tools such as grinders, cutting torches, drills, and measuring tools, with solid mechanical aptitude.
Commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of PPE, safe lifting practices, and adherence to shop safety procedures.
Attention to detail and quality, including the ability to inspect welds, verify dimensions, and complete work to specified tolerances.
Ability to work on-site in a fabrication shop setting, stand for extended periods, and handle the physical demands of lifting and moving materials as required.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction and work independently to meet deadlines.
Certificate of qualification, welding tickets, or relevant trade certification are an asset; prior experience in industrial or structural steel fabrication is strongly preferred.
