Glen is seeking a dynamic and student-centered French and Spanish Teacher to join our Upper School faculty beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This 80% FTE position includes four (4) Modern Language courses: (LWSCU, SWSBD, IDC4U/LWSDU, FSF3U), with the potential for additional teaching assignments through supply coverage, as needed. Reporting directly to the Head of the Upper School, the successful candidate will bring a passion for languages, culture, and student-centered learning, creating engaging classroom experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and intercultural understanding among students in Grades 9 to 12.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Teaching Spanish and French language courses. Courses assigned for the 2026-2027 school year will be as follows: (LWSCU, SWSBD, IDC4U/LWSDU, FSF3U);

Preparing, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans in Spanish and French that are consistent with the Ministry of Education curriculum;

Using a variety of teaching, language acquisition and support strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students;

Incorporating visual aids, authentic resources, creative projects and technology to enhance student engagement, language development and cultural understanding;

Evaluating each student’s language learning, understanding and performance through class work, oral communication, written assignments, projects and assessments;

Fostering healthy relationships with students and faculty to create an enriched, inclusive learning setting that supports language development, cultural appreciation and social-emotional growth;





Serving as a mentor teacher by supporting student well-being, guiding students in their academic and personal growth, and contributing to a positive advisory experience;

Maintaining effective communication with students, parents and faculty regarding student progress, language development and classroom expectations;

Completing required record keeping such as student attendance, grades and report cards;

Participating in extra-curricular coaching, co-curricular activities, language-related support and enrichment opportunities and supervision responsibilities.

These responsibilities are intended to provide a general overview of the role and may not capture all duties and expectations associated with the position. What You’ll Need:

An Undergraduate Degree in French, Spanish, Languages or a related teaching specialization, along with a Bachelor of Education Degree at the Intermediate/Senior level or equivalent;

A member, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Teachers;

Demonstrated ability to teach French and Spanish at the Intermediate/Senior level, supported by classroom, occasional or related teaching experience with students in Grades 9 to 12;

Experience teaching AP level French and Spanish would be considered an asset;

Strong understanding of second-language acquisition, differentiated instruction and assessment practices that support students across a range of proficiency levels in French and Spanish;

Strong organization and time management skills;

Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and Spanish, with the ability to adjust style to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and other members of the school community;

Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, welcoming and engaging demeanor;

Willingness and enthusiasm towards participating in the co-curricular program and broader school community. Here's What We Offer:

The School offers a competitive compensation package aligned with its faculty salary grid. Placement on the grid is determined by education, additional qualifications, and years of direct teaching experience.

The current salary range is $82,579 for candidates with five years of teaching experience to $130,158 for candidates with 10 or more years of teaching experience. This salary range will be adjusted to align with 80% FTE.
