Münter Design & Build is hiring an experienced Journeyman Carpenter for full-time, year-round custom residential work in Fernie, BC.
We are looking for a carpenter who can work independently from construction drawings and complete accurate residential carpentry without constant supervision.
Red Seal certification is preferred, but we will consider experienced carpenters who can demonstrate equivalent ability.
What you will be doing
Depending on the project and your experience, your work may include:
- Residential framing
- Structural carpentry
- Reading and working from construction drawings
- Layout
- Engineered lumber and structural details
- Window and exterior door installation
- Building-envelope and air-sealing details
- Siding and exterior carpentry
- Interior carpentry
- Material planning
- Supporting apprentices and less-experienced crew members
What we are looking for
You should be
- An experienced residential carpenter
- Comfortable working independently
- Able to read construction drawings
- Accurate with layout and measurements
- Productive without sacrificing quality
- Able to identify and communicate construction issues
- Reliable and organized
- Comfortable working as part of a professional crew
Custom-home experience is preferred. Experience with high-performance construction and building-envelope work is an asset.
Compensation
$42-$52/hour The upper end of the range is for carpenters who can independently complete complex work,
solve problems and take responsibility for substantial portions of a project.

Requirements
- Strong residential carpentry experience
- Plan-reading ability
- Robust framing and general carpentry skills
- Red Seal preferred, but not required for the right candidate
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation strongly preferred
