Junior Mechanical Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) Location: Calgary, Alberta
Reports To: Engineering Manager About SSi Artificial Lift
SSi Artificial Lift is a Calgary-based company that designs and manufactures innovative surface-mounted artificial lift systems for the oil and gas industry. Our products provide lower operating costs, improved efficiency, greater lifting capacities, and longer stroke lengths than conventional artificial lift technologies.
At SSi, engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams work closely together.

Position
Summary
SSi Artificial Lift is seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our Calgary engineering team. This role is ideal for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate looking to build practical experience in product design, manufacturing, testing, and research & development. Key Responsibilities
Assist with the design, development, and improvement of mechanical equipment and systems.
Create and maintain 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design reviews.
Support R&D; activities, prototype development, and product testing.
Work closely with the production team to assist with manufacturing, troubleshooting, QA/QC, and product validation.
Prepare technical documentation, including manuals, specifications, reports, and presentations.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices. Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar field.
Registered as an E.I.T. with APEGA or eligible for registration.
Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
Understanding of engineering fundamentals and FEA principles.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Hands-on mindset with a willingness to spend time in the production facility and test environments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Assets
Experience with hydraulics, fluid power systems, or oil and gas equipment.
Familiarity with industrial controls, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, or electrical systems.
Co-op, internship, SAE design teams, or other relevant engineering experience.
Compensation & Advantages
Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
