We are looking for a Lab Assistant - Fixed Term Contract in #106-8255 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, B.The candidate is responsible for providing basic assistance to the operations of the laboratory, and for maintaining a sterile and safe work setting. Prepare, homogenize, and weigh sample for analysis. Quality control monitoring to include but not be limited to recording of daily temperatures, daily weight checks, monthly pipette and syringe calibrations.

Collect, wash and dry glassware and other containers used throughout the laboratory and return to the designated locations in the laboratory. Maintain the cleanliness of the laboratory and surrounding areas. Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities.

Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process. Perform necessary tasks related to quality control parameters for the function being performed.



This position has the responsibilities and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observations in accordance with the prescribed non-conforming system and notify the supervisor.

Adhere to all safety policies. May be asked to assist other department in the capacity of lab assistant. Entry-level position. A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to enter client data.

Analytical skills are essential to complete analysis procedures and determine the concentration of the microorganism. A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to process client data. A basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and practices is required to ensure a safe working environment.

Work Environment: The incumbent works in a laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. The incumbent works in a laboratory with increased temperatures near the autoclave and washer.

The incumbent is required to wear masks, laboratory coat and insulated gloves when working with media. The pay range for this role is $19.79 - $20.30/hourly CAD. #Because you would contribute to an inspiring Public Health purpose, supported by long‑term and visionary shareholders.
